The Utah State Legislature Capital Facilities and Administrative Services Appropriations
Subcommittee reviews all capital projects for the State and approves or cuts public art funding for
those projects. If you would like to contact those legislators on the committee to express your views
on art in public places. The committee membership is listed on the Utah State Legislature web site at: http://www.le.state.ut.us/asp/interim/Commit.asp?Year=2008&Com=APPCFG

Other Utah Public Art Opportunities

  • Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) seeks proposals from sculptors that are current or former residents of Utah, or the Four Corners region (Four Corners of Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona), to sculpt a Bruin Bear out of Moenkopi sandstone.  The work of art will be located at the north entrance of the Student Center, Taylorsville Redwood Campus, 4600 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah.  SLCC invites interested Utah and Four Corners sculptors to respond to this Request for Proposal (RFP) by submitting proposals for this commissioned original sculpture project.   • Park City Municipal Corporation - Bus Shelters
    Request for Proposals from qualified professional artists to design, produce, and install art on three (3) bus shelters in Park City. The requested services include design, plan, create, fabricate, and install public art at a specific bus shelter. A non-mandatory pre-submittal meeting will be held on December 10, 2008 from 5:300pm to 6:30 pm at Miner’s Hospital, 1354 Park Avenue, Park City, UT 84060.   • Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), Dow Hall Center for Health
    Professionals - Klamath Falls, Oregon

  • The Regional Arts & Culture Council (Portland, OR) invites artists/teams
    residing in the United States to submit qualifications for the York Recognition public art project for Lewis & Clark College. This project seeks to acknowledge the significance of York, an African American slave who played an important role in Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery.   • Art Spaces, Inc. - Wabash Valley Outdoor Sculpture Collection is issuing a request for qualifications for a site-specific sculpture to be located in the city of Terre Haute, Indiana in the new HuxCancerCenter at UnionHospital. The sculpture will be located inside the front entrance of the HuxCancerCenter http://www.unionhospitalhealthgroup.org/union/huxcancer located at 6 ½ and Beech Street on the north side of UnionHospital.  It will be adjacent to the main staircase and just outside of the Radiation Oncology Waiting Room. More information including submission requirements, images and dimensions of the site are available on the Art Spaces website at www.wabashvalleyartspaces.com or 812-244-4216

  • The Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) seeks an artist or artist team to develop permanent artwork in conjunction with the widening of the South Spokane Street Viaduct in Seattle’s SoDo (South Downtown) neighborhood.   • The City of Walnut Creek, California is currently accepting qualifications from artists for individual artworks for the new downtown Walnut Creek Library.

  • The Los Angeles County Arts Commission Civic Art Program is establishing a high-caliber Resource List of Pre-Qualified Artists which will be used to select artists for the majority of new County projects. The Arts Commission's Civic Art Program, which began in 2005, is currently implementing over 40 civic art projects for a diverse variety of County facilities including libraries, courts, fire stations, parks, jails, and health clinics. Projects range in size from $30,000 to $300,000+ and are managed by a skilled staff dedicated to facilitating innovative projects which add meaning and beauty to County facilities, and deepen the pride of the surrounding neighborhoods. The Arts Commission anticipates that at least 15 new civic art projects will be initiated each year.
